Solid Film Lubricant (SFL), also known as Dry Film Lubricant (DFL), is most commonly used on parts where conventional lubricants such as grease and oil are prone to breakdown due to high heat conditions. A 0.0003 to 0.0005 inch coating of molybdenum disulfide is applied to a part that results in less wear and reduced friction. It is ideal for operations where cleanliness is a concern as it does not attract foreign particles like conventional lubricants do. The lubricant applied by spraying, brushing or dipping and is permanently bonded to the metal by thermally curing. Prestige Industrial Finishing applies Solid Film Lube in accordance with MIL-PRF-46010 and MIL-L-23398.
